Offered here is a historically documented Colin Campbell Cooper (1856–1937) oil painting titled “Interior, Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem,” circa 1890.
This is an atmospheric architectural interior depicting the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, with monumental columns, illuminated architectural details and a large gathering of figures within the church.
The painting has an especially interesting history because it retains vintage auction documentation on the reverse, including a printed catalog page identifying the work as a Colin Campbell Cooper painting.
The surviving catalog documentation identifies the work as:

The catalog page states that the work was signed “Colin Campbell Cooper” and inscribed with the title on the reverse.
The reverse of the actual painting retains handwritten “Colin Campbell Cooper” identification, along with the historical catalog material. There is also a handwritten notation referring to Christie’s and 11/20/1990, as well as an old “CHRISTIE’S 162 / 7/03” sticker.
The original catalog page and reverse documentation are included with the painting.
FRAME
The painting is housed in an ornate vintage decorative frame measuring approximately 25” × 33” overall.
The frame has been painted pink at some point in its history and shows substantial age and handling wear. There is paint loss, scuffing, chipping, abrasions, wear to the corners and edges, and general deterioration consistent with its age.
The frame is being sold as part of the piece and has not been restored.
CONDITION
Please examine all photographs carefully.
The painting is being offered in antique/vintage condition and shows age-related wear, surface discoloration and other imperfections consistent with an old artwork.
The backing is particularly aged and shows considerable wear, old paper, hardware, marks and handling/storage evidence.
The frame has more pronounced condition issues, including:
* Paint loss and chipping
* Scuffs and abrasions
* Wear to corners and edges
* Later pink paint finish
* Older hanging hardware
* General age-related wear
The artwork has not been professionally cleaned or restored by me.

Artwork: Approximately 28½” × 20” according to the historical catalog documentation.
Current framed dimensions: Approximately 25” × 33”.
