Original limited edition hand-colored etching by acclaimed American printmaker Judith Hall. This lush vertical botanical composition features a hummingbird among cascading flowers, vines, and foliage in soft greens, pinks, blues, and golds against a pale mint background.
This is a true original print, not a reproduction. Hall uses a multi-plate intaglio process where each plate is inked in a different color and printed in perfect register to build up the image. The result is rich, layered color with the characteristic plate impression visible around the image.
The standout feature is the deeply embossed decorative heart-pattern border surrounding the image, pressed directly into the heavy rag paper. This adds a beautiful three-dimensional, tactile quality that photographs alone cannot fully capture. The embossing extends well beyond the printed image area, giving the full sheet impressive presence at 36 x 21 inches.
All three inscriptions are hand-done in pencil by the artist: signed “Judith Hall” lower right, titled “Hearts & Flowers” lower center, and numbered 97/275 lower left. Printed on heavy rag paper with natural deckle edges.
