Up for sale is an exceptional antique European porcelain plaque painting depicting the classical portrait “Innocence,” alternatively known as “Innocence” or Woman With Doves” ,after the renowned French artist Jean-Baptiste Greuze.
This is a hand-painted porcelain plaque—not a paper print, lithograph, or canvas transfer. The artwork features finely detailed brushwork in a rich sepia and warm-toned monochromatic palette on a substantial porcelain plaque. The front bears the cursive inscription “Greuze” in the lower left corner.
The reverse features a custom viewing window displaying a red script “W G & N” mark along with the handwritten numbers 5355 and 32.
The plaque is housed in a substantial burl-style wooden frame with decorative gold gilt inner and outer detailing that complements the warm tones of the artwork.
