This professional-grade guzheng was crafted by Yangzhou Minzu Yuèqì Chǎng (Yangzhou Ethnic Musical Instrument Factory), a respected manufacturer from China’s state factory era. Yangzhou city in Jiangsu Province has been renowned for traditional instrument making for centuries, producing mid-to-high tier instruments that balance quality craftsmanship with accessibility.
The instrument showcases extensive mother-of-pearl and abalone inlay work across both head and tail panels, featuring traditional magnolia and peony blossoms with birds and butterflies. The reddish-brown lacquered hardwood body displays fine figuring, while hand-carved Chinese calligraphy adorns the side panel. The maker’s rectangular seal stamp is clearly impressed into the wood.
Condition:
Very good. Minor finish wear consistent with age. All strings intact, hardware functional, inlay pristine. Small edge chip on one corner (visible in photos).
