Original 1964 Topps/TCG Beatles Black & White Series 1 trading card (#3 of 60).
This card is extraordinary because it bears two hand‑applied “Paul” autographs: one across the front image in blue ballpoint, and another on the reverse in black marker.
The black marker inscription on the back is especially notable. It shows Paul’s characteristic tall “P,” compressed “aul,” and looping “L” flourish — nearly identical to the black marker inscription found on another card from the same series (see my other listing for Card #42 Lennon). On this card, the marker autograph even interacts with the printed “#3” on the reverse, suggesting Paul may have been playfully experimenting with the pen at the time.

During the height of Beatlemania in 1963–64, Paul McCartney often signed just his first name, “Paul,” especially when rushed by fans presenting trading cards, photos, or scraps of paper. This card captures that spontaneity, with Paul signing in two different pens and even leaving a flourish that interacts with the printed card design. Such playful, fan‑driven inscriptions are highly prized by collectors.
