African ceremonial ritual wooden drum Senufo people, Ivory Coast region. Circa 1950-1960.
Entirely carved from one piece of wood.
The drum is carved in high relief with various symbols and figures. These symbols have special meaning to Senufo community members.
The top with its original hide membrane retained with wood pegs.
Stands approximately 65 inches tall, 11 1/2 inches wide, 11 inches deep, 44 pounds.
